"I always been fascinated by the raw musical power that an orchestra can express, so, after creating a series of videos where I'm performing a multi-track piece with an instrument I designed, I decided to take the concept a step farther and create my own orchestra made of unusually unique instruments.
The project started by handcrafting a diverse selection of instruments, then I wrote a composition where I could fit them all in and finally performed each part. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed doing it!"

The Polysix ReFill

"The original Polysix, introduced in 1981, was a big success because of its warm sound character (as well as other features, of course) - and the same applies to the Polysix Rack Extension. Despite this synth`s quite simple architecture, the Polysix is capable of producing wonderful warm sounding pads, very responsive keys, but also super-dry and fat basses. BFD Core ReFill from Nucleus SoundLab!
The last few months I've been working on a special secret project for Nucleus SoundLab that ports the amazing BFD Eco software drum instrument to Reason! This refill, called BFD Core, has 3.6 GB of drum samples with 16 velocity layers and alternate sample playback (articulations) for some of the most realistic sounding drums ever committed to software. The drum samples, professionally recorded by FXpansion with multiple mics for both room and overhead ambience, include 57 individually recorded kit pieces - from manufacturers like Pearl, Tama, OCDP, Paiste, Zildjian, and Rogers. The Snare and Kick Drums in BFD Core were recorded with multiple mics (top and bottom, inside and out, respectively) for further sonic depth!
To get your tracks going and grooving Nucleus SoundLab has included over 2200 midi loops that work seamlessly with the NNXT and Combinators included in the refill. And speaking of Combinators, BFD Core comes with 75 specially designed combis that use all the transient shapers, EQs, compressors, distortion, reverb and delay devices that Reason 6 has to offer to the fullest - designed by NSL CEO Jeremy Janzen, Adam Fielding, Lewis Osborne (myself), Queen's Road and Tom "Stompp" Pritchard! These combis come in two categories, a more straightforward category for realistic drums and a "Heavy FX" category for the more adventurous. A "Lite" version of each Combinator is included as well, for use on computers with less RAM.

Secret Photographs, the latest from Machinefabriek, out now on Important Records:
"Alvin Karpis (born Albin Francis Karpowicz; August 10, 1907) was one of the most notorious bank robbers of the twentieth century. He was named public enemy number one and arrested by J. Edgar Hoover in 1936. He was sent to the recently formed Alcatraz penitentiary, where he became its longest serving prisoner.
Karpis was released on parole in 1969, and wrote a best-selling memoir. He moved to Spain in 1973, where he died six years later. In the last years of his life, he became an obsessive photographer, but never showed his work to anyone.
Filmmaker Mike Hoolboom discovered a batch of Karpis’ photos for auction on eBay. He was the lucky winning bidder, and with his newly found treasure, Hoolboom began working on a film, consisting of still images, slowly dissolving one into another.
Intensifying the slow, hypnotic pace and transitions, the musical score follows the three parts of the film (black and white, colour, black and white) with dream-like, barely moving sonic structures.
In the film (which is still in the making, working title 'Secret Photographs'), the music will be accompanied by a voice-over and additional field recordings. On this album though, the original score is presented in it’s pure, unhurried form."

Introducing the Volt CB-1 Rack Extension for Reason
