Guy Picciotto of the D.C. hardcore band Fugazi turns 44 years old today. Guy started as the singer for Rites of Spring in the mid-80's. ROS was a band that challenged the macho attitude prevalent in punk rock at the time and pushed the boundaries of hardcore. His following band, Happy Go Licky pushed those boundaries even further... with the use of tape loops and a more experimental song structure. Guy joined Fugazi early on as a second singer and in short order began also playing guitar and writing songs for the band. Fugazi's been on hiatus for the last few years, but the Instrument DVD is almost as good as being at one of their live shows...
