Dr. Know


Dr. Know, guitarist for the Rasta hardcore punk band Bad Brains, turns 51 years old today. Bad Brains started as a jazz fusion ensemble in D.C. in the mid 70's and only began playing the new sounds of punk rock when original singer Sid McCray introduced the rest of the band to the music of new bands like the Ramones, Dead Boys, and the Sex Pistols. Their fierce ideology and fast music both won and alienated audience members, leading to them being famously "banned in D.C."
