Korg MS-20 mini Patch Examples

When we last checked in with Marc Doty he was beginning to explore the patch panel on the new MS-20 mini... in the videos below he shows some patch examples, delving into the real charm of the MS-20 instrument:

I am not a synth noob but i AM new to the concept of the patch panel functionality on the ms-20 mini. Marc delivers lots of info in these 3 tutorials but too fast for me. Is there a tutorial or documentation that explains the ms-20 mini patch panel 'for dummies', like me?

I would sure appreciate a slow, thorough explanation of the patch panel.

While not specifically on the MS-20, MacProVideo.com has some great tutorials on synthesis. It does cost $, so I'd recommend subscribing for a month or two when you know you'll have some extra time to check out the topics you're interested in...

Hey Lewis.72,

Thanks for the info. I'm heading over to MacProVideo.com now to check it out.

Well, MacProVideo and Groove3 both look like they deal exclusively with software titles...no hardware synths...this is a little frustrating. I guess I'll be experimenting with the patch panel...now how many permutations are there?

One advantage is that I have a Kronos with a fair help system (and an ms-20 engine) and the iPad ims20, so that should help.

I haven't really checked out Groove3, but MacProV does have the "Foundation of Synthesis" 6 part course with Marc Doty that is taught on both classic hardware synths and software. Doty does go into more detail explaining synthesis in these videos than on his youtube clips... Also Richard Lanhart's 2 part "Advanced Synthesis" series is a fantastic look into the workflow of a legend. Cheers!

Wow. I guess I need to check those out, Thanks again.

I bought Richard Lainhart's pair of videos. I did learn a few tidbits that I did not previously know. I finished the first series in one day and will probably burn the oil tonight with the advanced series.

Thanks for the tip.
