Chris Lowe's Birthday

Chris Lowe keyboardist for the world famous Pet Shop Boys turns 50 years old today. Lowe grew up in Blackpool, in Northwest England and began his musical career by playing the trombone (which was his grandfather's instrument) in a local dance band. Lowe went on to study architecture at the University of Liverpool and it was during this time that he met future bandmate Neil Tennant, in an electronics shop on King's Road. They immediately bonded over their love of dance music and began working on songs together in Tennant's Chelsea flat. The Pet Shop boys would go on to chart four #1 singles and twenty-two top 10 hits, as well as spawn a Swedish cover band made up of two lovely girls called, what else, West End Girls.
