"Apparat, aka Sascha Ring, announces the release of “Krieg und Frieden (Music for Theatre)”, and album of music based on Sebastian Hartmann’s theatre production of Tolstoy’s War & Peace.
Sebastian Hartmann is considered one of the big innovators of contemporary German theatre, and asked Ring to contribute to this mammoth project, which was commissioned by the renowned German arts festival Ruhrfestspiele in Recklinghausen.
Apparat - Krieg und Frieden - Music for Theatre will be out on MUTE, February 15th."
Great interview with Sascha Ring about the new Apparat album, The Devil's Walk, out now on Mute Records. This is definitely my 2011 Autumn record, check it:
"Vi avevamo già parlato dell'ultimo lavoro di Apparat a settembre. Ora invece è lo stesso Sascha ad introdurlo rispondendo alle domande del giornalista Piers Martin in questa clip di 15 minuti. Il video è stato girato a Berlino e non voglio anticiparvi nulla... Cliccate play e perdetevi tra le bellissime immagini e una colonna sonora ovviamente affascinante. Buona visione!" -soundwall
Part 1 of the making of "The Devil's Walk", Apparat's forthcoming album on Mute (release date September 27th.) The recording began with a group of friends joining Sascha Ring (Apparat) in Sayulita, Mexico for a couple months to escape the cold winters of Berlin and Chicago. The friends included Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, Alfredo Nogueira (who joined Joshua live on the last Telefon Tel Aviv tour), Carsten Aermes (Phon.o), and remix master Jörg Wähner (Park Frequency). Sounds like the perfect setting! Check it:
"Apparat Band live at the Electronic Beats Festival in Prague. Watch the band perform their songs "Arcadia", "Rusty Nails" & "Black Water"." -Electronic Beats
German electronic musician Apparat has a new DJ mix coming out on October 25th, featuring two unreleased Apparat tracks and a brand new Telefon Tel Aviv song! The mix, part of !K7's DJ Kicks series (previously spun by Kode 9, Chromeo, Juan Maclean...) is set to be one of their most memorable.
"I didn't want to make this kind of "smart" mix, that's eclectic and sounds like it's done "on purpose;" but I need to do different things to keep myself motivated," Ring explained, in a statement. "At first I wanted to make a collection of influences, all kinds of old songs, but then sometimes with those mixes it's hard to keep some kind of flow and they're just not very easy to listen to, so I ended up using good new music; music that almost gave me hope that there's more out there than boring minimal techno.
"The mix isn't that balanced when it comes to melody I guess. There's a lot of sweetness on there, but it is dark and mysterious at points. I guess the bittersweet-ness has long been kind of my thing and with this mix I was just trying to spice it up a bit."
