The Miles Davis Story
This week marks the 21st anniversary of the death of legendary jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. Miles is best known for his amazing album Kind of Blue, released in 1959, which is considered to be the best selling jazz record of all time and was honored by the U.S. House of Representatives on December 15th, 2009 as a national treasure. Davis passed away on September 28th, 1991 from respiratory failure onset from pneumonia and a stroke, his grave can be found at Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx.

Salad Days Documentary!
Growing up in the late 80s and early 90s nearly all of my favorite punk rock bands were on DC's Dischord Records - from Shudder to Think to Fugazi to the mighty Soulside. So when I heard about a new documentary being filmed on the DC scene from that time period I was stoked. Now Scott Crawford, the director of the film, has set up a Kickstarter page raising funds for Salad Days: The Birth of Punk Rock in the Nation's Capitol. But more importantly an epic preview of the film has been released:

Peter Tosh!
On this day in 1987 Peter Tosh was gunned down in his own Jamaican home by a group of thieves, along with DJs Doc Brown and Jeff "Free I" Dixon. Tosh, a founding member of The Wailers will be awarded the Jamaican Order of Merit this coming October, the nation's fourth highest honor. When I was in high school I wore out my VHS copy of Captured Live, below is one of my favorite tracks from the video, Rastafarian Is:
