Elektron Analog Rytm Leaked!

Mr.Dataline showing off the hotly anticipated Elektron Analog Rytm Drum Machine in performance mode:

"Synthesis and Samples are used in this demo. Wanted to focus on the Performance Mode during this composition. This mode allows you to assign parameters from any tracks to the pads and manipulate them with pressure!"

NAMM Thoughts

Another January and another NAMM event has been unleashed upon Anaheim. This year Roland teased us with a new Aria line that supposedly resurrects many old faves like the TR-808 and SH-101 in new gear. They didn't show this at NAMM, so we're left wondering if it's just another Jupiter-80 tease. Meanwhile Moog unveiled their new Sub 37 synthesizer, which is essentially the Sub Phatty with more knobs and the ability to play two notes at a time. Not sure why you'd want two notes though? All my favorite chords have at least four notes in them :-). What interested me most at NAMM this year is from Elektron, the Rytm Drum Machine, check out this performance courtesy of DJ Tech Tools:

And speaking of Aria, a new teaser video:

What excited you this year at NAMM?

Elektron Analog Rytm - 8 voice analog drum machine with sample support

This is awesome:

"Ladies and gentlemen - we are incredibly proud to present our latest machine. We give you: Analog Rytm.

It is an an eight voice analog drum machine with sample support. Distinguished by the power of analog drum sounds fused with samples. Perfected by the immediacy of drum pads coupled with the Elektron sequencing."

Elektron Analog Keys - 4 voice polyphonic analog synthesizer

Elektron has released info on their new Analog Keys synthesizer based on the fantastic Analog Four!

"The 100% analog signal path of the four synth voices has been designed for providing a best-in-class analog sound. Two analog oscillators, two sub oscillators, dual analog filters and an analog overdrive circuit per voice provide that inimitable and organic sound. The power is striking."

Elektron Jam Session #1

The Elektron Analog Four Voice Synthesizer is one of the best deals around - 4 tracks of analog synthesis, Elektron's killer sequencer with param-locks, and a lovely sounding reverb all housed in a table top synth!

"In this session, all audio is routed through the Octatrack. Analog Four's output goes into Octatrack's input CD and Machinedrum's output goes into input AB. Also, Monomachine is being fed through the Machinedrum to add some Distortion and Sample Rate Reducer.

Octatrack is set to be the Master, sending MIDI clock to all other units. It also sends Program Change messages. By doing so, other units will follow the Pattern Changes made on the Octatrack. This makes it really handy when playing with multiple Elektron units.

Most of the beat is made up on the Machinedrum with some additional Loops from Octatrack. Monomachine is making trippy synth sounds and some glitchy hihat sequence towards to end. Analog Four takes care of all the Bass, Lead and other squelchy synth sounds!"

Korg MS20 Mini Processed by Elektron Analog Four

Mr.Dataline pairs the MS20 mini with an Elektron Analog Four, a match made in heaven:

"There are 5 improvisation sessions in this video using this setup.

Analog Four is sending out CV sequence for pitch tracking, low pass filter and high pass filter on the MS20 mini. The output of the MS20 is then fed through the Analog Four's input using Filters, Overdrive and Digital effects. With this setting, the MS20 mini can be taken lot further by sequencing and adding automation to parameters. And when the Analog Four's Filters and Digital FX are added...well, its fun :) Using the Analog Four's extreme LFOs on MS20 Mini's filters results in some very interesting sounds which are not possible on the MS20 mini itself.

Track 1 is used for Analog four's input processing MS20. It also triggers the CV track controlling MS20's Pitch.

Track 2 is used for Kick

Track 3 is set for HiHats and Snares

Track 4 is used for Additional Analog Four synthesis."

Dataline - Last One...Elektron Trinity + OP1

There's a lot of people posting videos of live jams with Elektron devices on youtube, but for my money Dataline is one of the best! Check out "Last One", featuring the Elektron Trinity with a Teenage Engineering OP-1:

pnortnaomi - S-Layer Transitions

pNORTNAOMI running Twisted Tools new S-Layer Reaktor Ensemble with an Elektron Machinedrum:
"Scanning through a selection of sounds created in Twisted Tools excellent S-Layer. Time flew by while recording and ended up with a 50min video in which I edited it down. I created the sounds using the included sound bank. I'm using an Elektron Machinedrum to trigger the scenes and program changes as well as a few parameter locks on certain midi cc's. In the short time I've been using S-Layer I have come up with an astonishing amount of material to use in projects and is a lot of fun."

Elektron Octatrack + Machinedrum UW = Friday Tweak

"A little improv/tweaking with the octatrack and his new friend the machinedrum. All sounds are coming out of these two machines. The MD is fed into the octatrack where it gets processed and sampled. The machinedrum samples itself as well. The bass line is coming from the Octatrack via a single cycle wave. Drums are mostly from the MD but there is also a kick drum sample coming from the OT." -n3bsvid
